What is the Jelly Bean®?
The Jelly Bean® is a carefully formulated pigment pack that can be added to THE BEAN® without detracting from the sealing properties of THE BEAN® . The combination of these two products creates a product that will safely stain and seal concrete with no environmental impact whatsoever.

How does it work?

Simply add 1 pigment pack to one (1) gallon of THE BEAN® . When staining pervious concrete a second application usually is required to be sprayed in the opposite direction of the first application. This will achieve the desired color and impregnate voids completely. THE BEAN® acts as the carrying agent for the pigment. As THE BEAN® penetrates the cement paste, the pigment is carried with it. The natural bean oil component of this mixture will lock the color in the paste permanently.

Where do I use it?

To date, pervious concrete is the only concrete application for which we recommend using the The Jelly Bean®. Field tests are showing promising results at lower dosage rates for regular concrete. Future applications being tested are:

  • Fixing color discrepancies for integrally colored concrete
  • Stenciling
  • Dressing up older driveways and sidewalks
  • Other decorative concrete applications

Application

A typical application would be spray applied. Detailed stencil patterns may require the use of a foam sponge stain brush found at any hardware store. Clean up is the same as for THE BEAN® with soap and water.

Instructions for use:

Shake well
Measure one (1) gallon of THE BEAN® per unit Jelly Bean® pigment pak to be used
Dispense half of THE BEAN® to be used into the sprayer
Dispense the Jelly Bean® , through cheesecloth, into the sprayer followed by the rest of THE BEAN®
Shake combination well
Test spray before applying to concrete

Colors may vary especially on pervious concrete.
If the first application is not dark enough spray a second application a different direction.

For non – pervious concrete, use one Jelly Bean® pigment pak per two gallons of THE BEAN®

DO NOT allow rain to contact the stained surface for 48 hours.
